Miles and Shelby share the same Birthdate, yet on different days of the year

Ken Miles and Carroll Shelby are best known for their development of the Ford GT40 that won the 24h of Le Mans consecutively from 1966 to 1969. But they not only share this remarkable project, but they also have the same birthdate, yet on different days of the year. Surely you are thinking about now I really mean the same day but in different years. Yes, Miles was a little less than 5 years older than Shelby, but I am referring to the exact day they would celebrate their birthday. Their birthday celebration invitations would have the same date but not the same day for the specific year.

Carroll Shelby was born on the 11th of January 1923 in Leesburg, Texas, USA.So, he would have used the US date format and hence written: 1/11 for January 11th

Ken Miles was born on the 1st of November 1918 in Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire, UK.So, he would have used the British date format and hence written: 1/11 for 1st of November

So, both have their birthday on the 1/11, but on two separate days of the year.

We celebrate this remarkable coincidence on both of their birthdays with a Ford GT40, the car that made both infamous…

Happy Birthday Isaac Asimov (1920)

Isaac Asimov (January 2, 1920 – April 6, 1992) was an American writer and professor of biochemistry at Boston University. During his lifetime, Asimov was considered one of the „Big Three“ science fiction writers, along with Robert A. Heinlein and Arthur C. Clarke. A prolific writer, he wrote or edited more than 500 books. He also wrote an estimated 90,000 letters and postcards.[d] Best known for his hard science fiction, Asimov also wrote mysteries and fantasy, as well as popular science and other non-fiction. Asimov’s most famous work is the Foundation series, the first three books of which won the one-time Hugo Award for „Best All-Time Series“ in 1966. His other major series are the Galactic Empire series and the Robot series, which include major works such as The Caves of Steel and The Naked Sun, both written in the mid-1950s. The Galactic Empire novels are set in the much earlier history of the same fictional universe as the Foundation series. Later, with Foundation and Earth (1986), he linked this distant future to the Robot series, creating a unified „future history“ for his works. He also wrote more than 380 short stories, including the social science fiction novelette „Nightfall“, which in 1964 was voted the best short science fiction story of all time by the Science Fiction Writers of America. Asimov wrote the Lucky Starr series of juvenile science-fiction novels using the pen name Paul French. We celebrate this prolific author with an AI generated image of Nestor 10 lost in the sea of Nestors from his story „Little lost Robot“…

Happy Birthday Rudyard Kipling (1865)

Joseph Rudyard Kipling (30 December 1865 – 18 January 1936) was an English journalist, novelist, poet and short-story writer. He was born in British India, which inspired much of his work. Kipling’s works of fiction include the Jungle Book duology (The Jungle Book, 1894; The Second Jungle Book, 1895), Kim (1901), the Just So Stories (1902) and many short stories, including „The Man Who Would Be King“ (1888).[2] His poems include „Mandalay“ (1890), „Gunga Din“ (1890), „The Gods of the Copybook Headings“ (1919), „The White Man’s Burden“ (1899) and „If—“ (1910). He is seen as an innovator in the art of the short story. His children’s books are classics; one critic noted „a versatile and luminous narrative gift“. Kipling in the late 19th and early 20th centuries was among the United Kingdom’s most popular writers. Henry James said „Kipling strikes me personally as the most complete man of genius, as distinct from fine intelligence, that I have ever known.“ In 1907, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, as the first English-language writer to receive the prize, and at 41, its youngest recipient to date. He was also sounded out for the British Poet Laureateship and several times for a knighthood, but declined both. Following his death in 1936, his ashes were interred at Poets‘ Corner in Westminster Abbey. We celebrate this fantastic author with an AI Image of his most famous book …

The Rosetta Stone is Found (1799)

The Rosetta Stone is a stele of granodiorite inscribed with three versions of a decree issued in 196 BC during the Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt, on behalf of King Ptolemy V Epiphanes. The top and middle texts are in Ancient Egyptian using hieroglyphic and Demotic scripts, respectively, while the bottom is in Ancient Greek. The decree has only minor differences across the three versions, making the Rosetta Stone key to deciphering the Egyptian scripts. The stone was carved during the Hellenistic period and is believed to have originally been displayed within a temple, possibly at Sais. It was probably moved in late antiquity or during the Mamluk period and was eventually used as building material in the construction of Fort Julien near the town of Rashid (Rosetta) in the Nile Delta. It was found there on 15th of July 1799 by French officer Pierre-François Bouchard during the Napoleonic campaign in Egypt. It was the first Ancient Egyptian bilingual text recovered in modern times, and it aroused widespread public interest with its potential to decipher this previously untranslated hieroglyphic script. Lithographic copies and plaster casts soon began circulating among European museums and scholars. When the British defeated the French, they took the stone to London under the terms of the Capitulation of Alexandria in 1801. Since 1802, it has been on public display at the British Museum almost continuously and it is the most visited object there. We celebrate this feat of linguistics with an AI image of the stone …
